Openbay, the Next Phase of Auto Repair?
I’ve often thought about this topic. Whether or not this is the next phase in the automotive industry. And my guess, it probably will be. Watch this video.
Should Automakers Make It Illegal To Work On Your Own Vehicle?
In this video EricTheCarGuy discuses an issue that has been going on for some time. It appears that the auto industry is trying to prevent the DYI’s from working on there own, or someone else’s, vehicle. Why? Because it has to do with one part that controls most of the electronics/sensors in your vehicle. The ECU or PCM. They want to prevent DYI from install aftermarket ECU’s. For more information check out Eric’s video and the article. Here’s the link to both articles. Article 1 and Article 2.

Mercedes-Benz F 015 concept car
When I went to the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, I had seen similar concept vehicles like this one. And let me tell you something, I’m not too sure about this route. Self-driving vehicles? Seems not too questionable. With the present vehicles we have today and all of it’s present technology they have, they’re not exactly reliable. I don’t know if you’ve seen the news articles lately, there’s been a ton of recalls. All because of crappy technology. I’m all about the new technology, but don’t give us crap that fails. And when we add self-driving vehicles to the mix, something tells me that car accidents are going to rise up 10x. I don’t know. We shall see I guess.
Body Shops Say Insurance Companies Are Skimping On Repairs
This CNN video really irritates me. The news anchor that interviews the supervisor that State Farms suggest talking to says that “It doesn’t matter where the parts are made from. All aftermarket and factory parts are made and come from the same manufacturer.” Pull crap! They do not. I’m a mechanic and even I know that aftermarket parts are made of a different material than those of the factory parts. It just depends on there grade. Same goes for the factory parts. Install good quality parts insurance companies. And have your guys do it right the first time.
